Do any of you have a hard time waiting for things? Of course! We ALL do in this fast paced “order and get it in 2 days” society we live in now! Even my pups have a hard time waiting for their special “cheese treat” in the morning, which is all the MORE reason for me to “help them practice” waiting! I tell them the command “DOWN”, and they have to lie down first, and THEN I put the cheese chunk in between their paws on the floor.
Maggie (my 3 year old goldendoodle) can hardly CONTAIN her excitement while waiting for her cheese treat! She stares at the thing the ENTIRE time I am saying “Wait…wait…wait…”, with her nose only an inch away, just in case I forget to say the “go word” (OK!)…
Now Walter, on the other hand, does the complete OPPOSITE of Maggie! (This is my 3 year old black Newfiedoodle) Even BEFORE I place the cheese in front of him, he is already purposefully looking everywhere BUT where that cheese is! Why? Because I seriously think he is trying to AVOID THE TEMPTATION of His LOVE of cheese! If his eyes even CONNECT with that chunk of cheese, it’s a goner! 🧀 😂
ANYway, why DO you think it’s so HARD to wait for things we really want? And what are we supposed to do WHILE we wait?
Why Waiting on God’s Timing Is Crucial
Waiting can be difficult, especially when we want something so badly. We live in a world that values instant gratification and quick results. However, as Christians, we are called to trust in God’s plan and timing, even when it doesn’t align with our own. In this article, we will explore why it’s important to wait on God’s timing and the benefits that come with it.
Understanding God’s timing can be challenging, but it’s essential to our spiritual growth. We often want things to happen on OUR timetable, but God’s timing IS perfect. He sees the bigger picture and knows what’s best for us. When we trust in His timing, we are acknowledging that He is in control and has our best interests at heart. ❤️
Waiting on God’s timing can be challenging, but it’s worth it. It allows us to grow in patience, trust, and faith. In the following sections, we will explore the benefits of waiting on God, the challenges we may face, and steps we can take to wait on Him. We will also hear testimonies of those who have waited on God and recognize His timing in their lives.
Key Takeaways
- Trusting in God’s timing is essential for our spiritual growth
- Waiting on God allows us to grow in patience, trust, and faith
- Recognizing God’s timing and plan for our lives can bring peace and fulfillment.
Understanding God’s Timing
The Concept of Divine Timing
As believers, we understand that God has a plan for our lives, and that plan includes specific timing. Divine timing means that God has a specific time for everything, and we must trust that His timing is perfect. We may not always understand WHY we have to wait, but we can be sure that God IS working ALL THINGS together for our GOOD.

When we try to rush things or take matters into our own hands, we risk missing out on the blessings that God has in store for us. It’s important to remember that God’s timing is not our timing, and His ways are higher than our ways. We must be patient and trust that God’s timing is always perfect.
”My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. And My ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the Heavens are higher than the Earth, so My ways ARE HIGHER than YOUR ways and MY THOUGHTS higher than YOUR thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9
Biblical Foundations for Waiting
The Bible is full of examples of people waiting on God’s timing. Abraham and Sarah waited for years for their promised child, Isaac. Joseph waited in prison for years before being elevated to a position of power in Egypt. David, the shepherd boy, waited many years before becoming king of Israel.

In Psalm 27:14, David says, “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” This verse reminds us that waiting on God’s timing requires strength and courage. It’s not always easy to wait, but we can trust that God IS faithful and WILL come through for us in HIS perfect timing.
In Ecclesiastes 3:1, we read, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” This verse reminds us that there is a specific time for everything in our lives. We must trust that God knows the perfect time for each of us, and we must be patient and wait for His timing.
Understanding God’s timing requires faith and trust. We must trust that God’s timing is perfect and that He IS working all things together for our good. We must be patient and wait for His timing, even when it’s difficult. As we wait, we can take comfort in knowing that God IS faithful and WILL come through for us in His perfect timing.
Benefits of Waiting on God…Receiving the Best Outcome
When we wait on God’s timing, we can be assured that we will receive the best possible outcome. Sometimes we may be tempted to rush things, but when we wait on God, we can be confident that we will receive the best possible outcome. God knows what is best for us, and He will guide us in the right direction if we trust in Him.
Alignment with God’s Plans
When we wait on God’s timing, we align ourselves with His plans for our lives. We can be confident that God has a plan for each and every one of us, and when we trust in Him, we can be sure that we are on the right path. We may not always understand God’s plans, but we can trust that He knows what is best for us. When we wait on God’s timing, we are aligning ourselves with His plans and purposes for our lives.
Dealing with Uncertainty
One of the biggest challenges of waiting is dealing with uncertainty. We may not know when God’s timing will be, and this can be difficult to accept. We may wonder if we are doing something wrong or if we missed God’s plan altogether. It’s important to remember that God’s timing is perfect, and we can trust Him to guide us through the waiting process.
To help deal with uncertainty, we can focus on building our faith and trust in God. This can be done through prayer, reading the Bible, and spending time with other believers who can encourage and support us.
Overcoming Doubt and Anxiety
Another challenge of waiting is dealing with doubt and anxiety. We may start to doubt God’s plan for our lives or worry that we will never see the outcome we desire. This can lead to anxiety and stress, which can further hinder our ability to wait patiently.
To overcome doubt and anxiety, we can focus on the promises of God. We can remind ourselves of His faithfulness and the many times He has come through for us in the past. We can also seek support from others and ask for prayer and encouragement during this time.

What should I do while I wait?
Have you ever seen the Christian movie “Fireproof” with Kirk Cameron?
If not, I highly recommend it! I won’t give it away, but Kirk’s character didn’t know Jesus personally. When he finally came to a realization that he desperately NEEDED Jesus in his marriage, he simply just continued to serve Jesus and worship Him while he was waiting for specific answers to his prayers. He didn’t give up…he pressed on, even when it got REALLY hard!
There is a song in the Fireproof movie called “While I’m Waiting” that I would listen to over and over again as I was waiting for Jesus to move in my OWN life and in the life of others…powerful lyrics:
🎶 ”I’m waiting…
I’m waiting on you Lord
and I am hopeful
though it is painful
but patiently I will wait…
I will move ahead bold and confident
Taking every step in obedience…
While I’m waiting, I will serve You
while I’m waiting, I will worship…”
What are YOU waiting for? Are you waiting for that special someone to enter into your life? Are you waiting to find the perfect home for you and your family? Are you waiting to HAVE a family? Are you waiting to find that perfect job that will give you the healthy balance of work and life? Are you waiting for family relationships to mend? I could go on and on…
Whatever it is that you are waiting for:
- Ask God if that SHOULD be the desire of your heart
- Focus on God’s promises WHILE waiting for His answer (Start with the book of Psalms and Isaiah)
- Seek God’s guidance in EVERY detail
- SURRENDER your thoughts and emotions to God
- SERVE Him while waiting (get connected with a church group…you are NOT alone in your struggles!)
- WORSHIP Him while waiting (listen to praise and worship music…sing along! There IS Power in Praise!!!) 🎵 🙌
Waiting on God’s timing CAN be challenging, but it is essential to trust in His plan for our lives. By engaging in prayer, staying active in faith communities, and fostering our spiritual growth WITH JESUS, we can find peace and comfort in the waiting process.
Discerning God’s Will
Another way to recognize God’s timing is by discerning God’s will. This involves praying and seeking guidance from God to understand what He wants us to do. When we are in tune with God’s will, we can better understand when we should act and when we should wait.
It’s important to remember that discerning God’s will is not always easy. We may have to wait and be patient to understand what God wants us to do. However, if we trust in Him and seek His guidance, we can be confident that we are on the right path.

The Bible teaches us that God’s timing is perfect and that we should trust in Him. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” We may not always understand why things are happening the way they are, but we can trust that God has a plan and that He is in control.
Our desire for immediate results can cause us to make decisions that are not in line with God’s plan for our lives. When we wait on God’s timing, we are trusting in Him and His plan. This can be difficult, but it can also be a time of growth and learning.
Discerning God’s timing can be difficult, but we can seek guidance from God through prayer and reading the Bible. We can also seek guidance from wise and mature Christians who can help us to discern God’s will for our lives. Ultimately, we can trust that God will guide us and reveal His timing to us in His perfect way and time. And remember, our God is a BIG GOD! He IS powerful enough to stop you from going down a certain path and turn you around to go the way that He deems BEST! So, don’t be afraid of making the wrong decision…if you are continually seeking Him with ALL of your heart, He WILL make your path straight!
“Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart;♥️ do not depend on your own understanding. SEEK His will in all you do, and He WILL show you which path to take.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT
Keep on pressing on as God helps you in your waiting season, my friends,
and joyfully pass it on! 💜
